Friends-
Ah, summer! Best time of the year! There's just not enough time to do everything! There's travel and events and home improvements and cookouts and music and canoeing and fishing and biking and camping and, and- And sitting quietly with God. Being still in his presence. Getting my marching orders. Being inspired. Putting his will ahead of my own. Letting everything else go, if he says so. In the middle of all I want to do in the all too fleeting summer months, I must be sure to keep my focus on God and make him my first priority. Paul said everything else is trash compared to that. I think he was right. I intend to fully enjoy my summer and hope you will, too. And if we will keep Jesus in the middle of all of it, putting him and his will first, we will certainly have the best summer ever! Wishing you the best! As I am writing this, the sun is out, the air cool and refreshing- a beautiful summer evening! But just a short time ago, it was thundering and pouring rain. And a short time before that, it was hot and sweltering- a full-on summer day. I came home from a very full day, pretty tired out. The last thing I wanted was more work! But the rain and the thunder motivated me! I went out in the garage to move my car out to let the rain wash off the dust and pollen. While in the garage, I noticed a problem with one of the tracks of our garage door and decided to try and tackle that. As I did, my neighbor came over and we had a great chat as I worked on the track. I even got it fixed! So what's the point? Once again I see how changeable and surprising are my days. This day did not develop like I thought it would, but it developed just great! I thought my day was over and I was very wrong. Once again God's plans are far better than mine. Lord, help us to follow your plan every day. Help us to trust you no matter what we face. Help us not to quit before the task is done. Help us to savor every day as a gift, and to live it as fully as we may. Amen! Have a great month! We are so blessed with a beautiful outdoor setting. We will send out an email by the Friday before to let you know that we plan on being outdoors. Bring your own chair if possible. It does require more work to be outdoors, so we can use people to help set up and to put things away. Please bring it to the church by no later than June 8. Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated. Baby Shower - All women in the church are invited on Saturday, June 24 at 11 am to a shower for the baby that Ryland and Olivia Green are expecting this summer. Please RSVP to Judy Murphy by June 10.
