It isn't often that Easter and April Fools Day falls on the same day!
There is something about that which seems to need attention. Something so profound as Jesus' resurrection and so silly as April Fools. I wonder if Mary and Peter and John thought someone was trying to fool with them when they got to the tomb that Sunday morning and found it empty? I wonder if Thomas thought the others were pulling his leg when they told him that they had seen Jesus? The resurrection may well be God's great prank! But it is so much more! It is God's great victory! Because he lives, we too can live- abundantly, joyfully, eternally!
As to being fooled and foolish, remember: "The fool has said in his heart, there is no God." (Psalm 14:1). How often do we say that by our attitude and lack of faith? Also "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." (Proverbs 9:10). Are we in awe of God?
So don't be foolish! Be in awe of God's majestic plan and power! Jesus has conquered sin and death! And we are set free!
No fooling.
