If you missed worship this past week (June 5), you missed a lot! If you were, there, you know what I am talking about. Not the quality of the music or the preaching or the prayer. It was about the spontaneous move of God and the sharing from the heart from many to say what God is doing. It was pretty wonderful.
What sparked it was the telling of a simple story, which made the point that when we are together, we are like an oasis for each other and for others who might join us. An oasis of hope, love, peace, joy, and encouragement. Therefore, we always need to be ready. Whenever possible we need to be there when we gather, so that we don't miss out, and so that others don't miss out on what we have and what we bring.
I will say that we should learn to come expecting God to show up. Come with expectancy, not expectations. That means, come believing God wants to and will move among us, but probably not the way we expected or would choose. God surprises us with his best when he chooses.
I don't know about you, but I want to be wherever God shows up. To be honest, I can't wait to get to CCC this Sunday to see what He has up his sleeve. Leave your expectations at home, but come with high expectancy!
See you soon!
Gary

Other News -
Well Update - There is news on the well front. One big item is that if we choose to go through World Vision again and choose to donate our money by August 31, they have a donor who will match our monetary donation! In other words if we were able to donate $7,500 it would actually be $15,000. That is a significant opportunity for us if we choose to go that route. Before we found out about this opportunity, a date had been set for October 6 to do a fundraising chicken dinner. We are now looking into some ways to raise money this summer so perhaps we could take advantage of this offer from World Vision. Let's pray about this and we will decide as a church if we want to go this direction.
One thing we would like to initiate again is collecting coins in a jar at home. Perhaps you can choose to give up something you spend money on and put it instead in a jar. Or just at the end of the day, put your loose change from the day into a jar. We are so blessed with clean water, let's sacrifice, so others can have clean water!
We are also looking into another idea for a possible summer dinner to raise funds. Hopefully we will have more information soon.
Looking Ahead:
Progressive Farm Dinner - Plan now to attend our progressive farm dinner on Sunday July 10. Meet at the church at 3:45 PM to carpool to our 4 different farms. We will start with appetizers at Tim and Judy Murphy's at 4 PM. Salads will be at Dave and Terry Walker's at 5:15 PM, followed by the main course at 6:30 PM at Curt and Cynthia Moore's. We will finish with dessert at Bruce and Ginny Johnson's starting at 7:45 PM. Plan on staying for a bonfire too! Every one who comes must sign up to help provide food. Look for the sign up sheet in the fellowship room. Don't miss this chance to get to know each other better and to see these great homes!
Baptisms and New Members - Sunday August 21 - If you are interested in being baptized or becoming a church member talk to Gary. Plans are in the works for a possible picnic too. Several options available for baptism.
