Friends-
As I am writing this, the sun is out, the air cool and refreshing- a beautiful summer evening! But just a short time ago, it was thundering and pouring rain. And a short time before that, it was hot and sweltering- a full-on summer day. I came home from a very full day, pretty tired out. The last thing I wanted was more work! But the rain and the thunder motivated me! I went out in the garage to move my car out to let the rain wash off the dust and pollen. While in the garage, I noticed a problem with one of the tracks of our garage door and decided to try and tackle that. As I did, my neighbor came over and we had a great chat as I worked on the track. I even got it fixed! So what's the point? Once again I see how changeable and surprising are my days. This day did not develop like I thought it would, but it developed just great! I thought my day was over and I was very wrong. Once again God's plans are far better than mine. Lord, help us to follow your plan every day. Help us to trust you no matter what we face. Help us not to quit before the task is done. Help us to savor every day as a gift, and to live it as fully as we may. Amen! Have a great month! Outdoor Worship- On June 4 we will be worshipping out under the oaks. When the weather cooperates this summer, we will occasionally worship outside under the oaks. We are so blessed with a beautiful outdoor setting. We will send out an email by the Friday before to let you know that we plan on being outdoors. Bring your own chair if possible. It does require more work to be outdoors, so we can use people to help set up and to put things away. (consider this your email for June 4) Book Study - The Sunday morning book study has two weeks left to meet, June 4 and June 11. We meet in the basement around 9:15 am. Bed Project - The Argyle church is having a bed build on June 10 and they have once again asked us to participate. You can go to their church at 9 am and help build the beds. The rain site is the Paulson Agriculture Museum, south of the church. And/or you can donate new twin bedding. That can be spreads, sheet sets, blankets, pillows, or money. Please bring it to the church by no later than June 8. Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated. Baby Shower - All women in the church are invited on Saturday, June 24 at 11 am to a shower for the baby that Ryland and Olivia Green are expecting this summer. Please RSVP to Judy Murphy by June 10. If you are going to the shower, plan on meeting at the church around 10:45 am, so we can carpool for easier parking. They are registered at Target. Search under Olivia Green and Ryland Green to find their list. Thanks - Thanks to all who donated items for Miss Carly's Place. Nikki delivered it all to them! Also, we donated popsicles to the Caledonia School! Looking Ahead - Ladies Lunch at the Lake - Diane Upton is planning a potluck salad lunch for all women in the church at her home this summer. It will probably be in July. Diane and Geoff live right on the lake in Candlewick. This will be another great opportunity for good fellowship! There is talk of a possible boat ride as well as lunch. Watch for more details as a date is picked. July Project - The Sunday morning book study would like to continue with a project for each month. So we will let you know in early July what we will be collecting for the month of July. Coin Collection - Our next coin collection for benevolence will be at the end of August. Charity Blanket Challenge - Do you knit or crochet? Jessica Boezem is challenging us to participate in making a blanket for charity by the end of October. It is a project that the store Michaels offers. People would crochet or knit individual squares which would be all put together to create one big blanket. Please talk to her if you are interested. |
