Friends -
Some of us will be traveling this Christmas. Some maybe quite a distance. Still, none of us will be traveling as far as Jesus did that first Christmas. And I don't mean from Nazareth to Bethlehem. I mean from heaven to earth- from Holy God to human baby- from a place of perfection to the broken, hurting, violent, dangerous earth. What would make him do such a thing? Why in the world would an all-wise God do something so seemingly foolish? The simple answer is love. But it takes a bit of explaining. I invite you to join us this month as we consider the question of “Why did Jesus come?” We are bound to learn- or remember- some wonderful things together. Hope to see you soon!

BIG BLUE BUCKET We continue to collect food every week to contribute to the Belvidere/Boone Food Pantry. Donations can be dropped off Sunday, or any time the Church is open. Or call us and we'll find a time that works...
COMMUNITY DINNERS UPDATE We are partnering with our brothers and sisters at the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church and the Belvidere Boone County pantry to offer a weekly meal to any who wish to come at no cost, every Thursday evening. This completely fits our mission and vision...

HELP NEEDED We are looking for more mentors to help students at Caledonia elementary school. Once at week, in the first period of school.
Refreshments - Many chances to help in this area this month. We need cookies for Christmas Eve, and for Sharing Sunday. May be a few openings for Sunday mornings. Thanks!
Greeters - Sign up in the fellowship room. Talk to Leslie Quiggle if you have questions.
Book Exchange - Our very own lending library located in the basement. Bring books or magazines.
New tables and Chairs - They have arrived and are set up in the basement. Stop down for a look.
Tea and Hot Chocolate - Enjoy a cup of tea or hot chocolate during fellowship time. We now have hot water ready for your convenience. Of course there is still coffee!
Annual Meeting - Mark your new 2014 calendars for January 12, our annual meeting and potluck.
Women's Study - A new study for women will start up in February. Talk to Jennifer Schwerin or Angela Green if interested. Book still to be determined. We have 2 ideas!

Sunday December 15 - Worship Service - 10:30 am - 3rd Sunday in Advent Christmas Party - 6:30 - 8:30 PM - Schwerin's home, join us for an evening of singing Christmas
carols and of course, some food!
Thursday December 19 - Service Opportunity - Help serve dinner to those in need, held at Poplar Grove Church. Talk to Steve Barrick or Sandy Free.
Sunday December 22- Worship Service - 10:30 am - 4th Sunday in Advent
Tuesday December 24 - Christmas Eve Service - 7:00 PM - Refreshments following.
Wednesday December 25 - JOY TO THE WORLD, THE LORD IS COME!!
