It is All Saints Day as I write this- the day we set aside to remember all the saints living, and all the saints who have gone before us. It's what Halloween (Hallowed Evening) is all about- a reminder that as powerful as the forces of darkness often seem, they cannot defeat those who are in Christ! I know people get "spooked" about Halloween, but it really, it's a victory shout for the power of Love.
Halloween is also when kids- and brave adults- get to be someone they are not. Maybe it's someone they want to be. Or maybe it's somebody scary- a good way to deal with fears. But it poses the question: who are we, really? Who do we wish we were? Are we becoming the people God intended us to become? Are you? Am I?
One of the messages God keeps sending me in various ways is, "Be who I made you to be."
I think that is a message for all of us. And when we are in Him, and when we are being true to the "me" we were meant to be, that's when we become the saints God intended. And one day, we will join that "great cloud of witnesses" (Hebrews 11) that is cheering us on right now, and every single day.
It's fun to pretend every once in a while that we are somebody else. And it's even better to be fully who God created us to be!
Looking forward to sharing November with you all
Gary
PS How is everyone doing on that whole "not grumbling" thing. Keep it up! Let's be ridiculously thankful people, and watch what happens!
